If you suspect that you wont be able to read the original disk a 2nd time, only work with copies of your image/clone. After you have done this, you can just go to the Buffalo interface to remove the problem drive 1 and then put in a new drive. I ran the Seatools and Crystal Disk Info to display the SMART values. Not much help otherwise.
